Organization:
Each player with a ball
Small box (7x7) built into the middle of the grid (15x15)
Instructions:
Players dribble around the outside of the grid, looking for open space and using bigger touches - no dribbling in circles!
On coach's command, players then enter the smaller box and continue dribbling, using smaller touches and close control
Players then exit the small box on coach's command.
Introduce skill moves (matthews, side step, scissors) which players must use when:
-entering or exiting one of the boxes
-they come head on with another player in the bigger box
Can split players into 2 teams to accomodate numbers
-one team dribbles in small box, the other in large box
-on command, teams switch boxes
Coaching Points:
Big Box: -Penetrate open space, take bigger touches allowed by more room (Ronaldo)
Small box : -Close control with the ball, more touches to keep possession (Messi)
Head and eyes up at all times to avoid collisions.
