Explain that this game is a competition & that you will be combining dribbling & shooting skills together
Session set up - 4 equal teams numbered in each corner - ideally equal numbers, if not choose certain players to have 2 numbers & they will go twice
Use both goals at each end of the sports hall
Cones are placed down slightly diagonally from the by-line up to the middle, players will have to dribble through these
Place a line of cones down which will act as the marker that the players have to shoot before reaching
Place cones down in the goal as targets for encouraging shooting into the corners
Teams will play against the other team on the same side of the hall as them, all teams will rotate to play against each other.
Aim of the game - When the coach shouts 'go' players starting at the front dribble out through the cones into the middle. They then turn around final cone to head towards the net they just came from, they then have to have a strike on goal before they reach the cones in front of them.
Rules - Whoever scores 1st gets the points.
When all 4 balls are back at the front of each group the coach will shout the next 4 players off.
If a player shoots 1st & misses then the opposition player will gain points by hitting the target
If the ball is struck after the marker then the goal doesn't count
If a player doesn't dribble through all cones correctly then goal doesn't count
Coach to speed session up as fast as its safe to do so to prevent waiting times for players in each corners. making each team cheer on their teammates & to keep the score is a good way of keeping them occupied whilst waiting.
All previous coaching points to be recapped, additional coaching points now shooting under pressure include -
Good touch out of feet & close control dribble - remembering even if opposition player shoots first they may miss or be disqualified due to missing cones, the player who does the game correctly will have a better chance of gaining points for teams.
To relax in front of goal & hitting target is the main aim
The first touch after the final cone is key to making sure players naturally stride on the ball to strike - if ball is too far away, players will be stretching. If touch is too close then the ball will be stuck under the feet & less likely to get direction/power you want
Progressions
Add Goalkeepers - coach to make sure its safe to do so as they will be facing 2 shots at the same time
Extra points if goal is scored in corners
Extra points if goal is scored in the side netting
Extra points if goal is scored by hitting the net without bouncing
All 4 teams up against each other at the same time & not just one team
Players will be ready to move into matches, a couple of the progression ideas still valid in games to encourage different types of shot.

Warm up - Technique recap
Everybody has a ball to start off with dribbling round practicing skills/turns & using both feetLevels game recap - ask players if they have been practicing kick ups & how many did they get?Give them 5 minutes to practice more to try and beat their best score - 1 bounce kick ups can be used also
Warm up drill - Split the hall into 3 areas, the area in the middle is where the players will be dribbling around & the area's either side will be where they go & have a shot on goal
*Please be aware the sports hall sizes differ & the diagram is there to help, in reality the areas to each side will be smaller than the middle area but the drill still works exactly the same
Aim of the drill - To continue to develop ball mastery skills & wait for number to be called, once number is called find the right space to go into in the empty areas & get a shot on goal remembering technique from previous week.
Number all players in the middle 1,2,3 & 4. There will roughly be 6/7 of each number
Have challenges set in the middle while dribbling such as - left foot only, right foot only, inside outside
Call out a number - the 6/7 players have to dribble into either area & get a strike on goal, retrieve the ball then back into the middle dribbling
Coach to recap coaching points on technique & first touch. Additional coaching points for the warm up drill include -
Awareness - if 5 players are already heading towards one goal, can you have the presence of mind to turn and attack the opposite direction
Be in a position where you can explode into space to get a shot off early
Reiterate angle of approach as players will be going at a fast pace
Progressions
Make into competition e.g. which set of numbers score the most goals
Can only use weaker foot to shoot
Can only aim for the side netting
Make sure all players have equal amounts of shots
