Football/Soccer Session (Difficult): 8.26.25 - ATTACK - Overload to Finish
Description
Objective: Improve team's ability to BUILD (creates space/moment for penetration) and ATTACK (overload)
System of Play:
- We Have It: 1-4-3-3 / 1-3-4-3 (HM drops in between CBs)
- They Have It: 1-4-1-4-1 / 1-4-4-2 (AM joins ST)
- No clear scouting report for UW Stout - prepare to be better at what we do and then prepared to adjust as need be).
Exercise #1 - 3v2/2v1 Wave Practice
- Michael - Lead / Observe
- Morgan - Get GKs warmed-up early so they are ready for shots from the off
- Kacz - Team White (Overload in transition)
- Kerns - Team Black (Overload to Start)
- Michael - Positioning of team with overload - must be able to support forward pass.
- Morgan - Look at decision of CBs of Black Team
- Kacz - Manage press of the White Team
- Kerns - Decision Making of AM w Front 3 - Exploit overload with speed / simplicity
- Michael - Team 1 / Overall Observation
- Morgan - Co-Lead Team 2

Objective: Improve team's ability to BUILD (creates space/moment for penetration) and ATTACK (overload)
Secondary Objective: Improve's teams reactions in transitional moments (ATTACK to play forward / PRESS to stop play forward).
Set-up:
- Space: See Diagram / corners cut out to encourage getting end line or early cross before space is gone.
- Process:
- Blacks took to build possession in order to find the ST
- Once Black find the ST - they are able to break to goal looking to create a finish.
- Black can attack max with 5 players - Whites are able to recover once penetrated in support of White CBs.
- White look to regain and finish in large goal within 6 secs of recovering.
- Switch defenders every 30-45 secs (4 Rounds x 4 min - 2 min recovery)
Coaching Content:
- Build in order to create space for penetration (3-1 Shape in Defensive Pressing by White
- Attack (change of speed) in order to exploit space/penetration
- Transition - Press to deny progression

Objective: Improve team's ability to ATTACK in overload in order to create finishing opportunity.
Process:
- White GK plays a driven ball to any of the 3 Black attacking players to receive and attack the opposite goal.
- Both teams looking to finish in opposite goal.
- Once ball is out, a goal is scored, or ball regained by White - the ATTACK goes the other way 2v1.
- The Black player that lost the ball, scored, or was part of the last action now defends.
- Teams stay in roles for 4 mintues and switch after time.
