Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): 7v7 Attacking from Wide Areas (Game Base Session)

7v7 Using Wide Areas to Attack

Session Plan:

Players will play through in a game scenario, the aim of the Game Base Session is to create crossing opportunities and shots from wide areas. 

Pictures to Create:

Picture 1: Wide players will move wide with a CB moving up to support the crossing opportunity, creating either the 2v1 opportunity or the cross from the CB from deeper, When the CB has the ball, the opposite side Winger and Striker should look attack the box both at the front and back post.

Picture 2: Should the opposition be narrow when the CB have the ball, the CM will look to find the space between the opposition's players and the lines, when they receive this ball, wingers move wide in order to receive to exploit the wide space to get down the line. The CM, Winger and ST can then attack the box with more numbers.

Picture 3: Should the opposition be marking the ST man for man and following the movements, the CB can step up to overload the central area. The ST can move wide to drag the CB away (if the CB does not follow this opens up the 2v1 picture from earlier but with ST not the CB supporting) if the CB does follow, this allows the CM to push into the space to receive the ball.
